St. John Theatre announces cast of ‘Once Upon a Mattress’

RESERVE — After a yearlong intermission, St. John Theatre is excited to be back on stage and producing a summer musical. Actors, singers, dancers, musicians and technicians are busily preparing for the July 23 opening night of this year’s show, “Once Upon A Mattress”, directed by long-time St. John Theatre friend, Mike Brooks. In this musical version of “The Princess and the Pea,” Princess Winnifred is an ungainly, brash girl competing for the hand of Prince Dauntless, whose domineering mother Queen Aggravain has declared he must marry a “true” princess before anyone else in the kingdom can marry.

The Company is as follows: Princess Winnifred the Woebegone -Averi Rojas, Prince Dauntless – Tadhg Long, Queen Aggravain  –  Sadie Kelly, King Sextimus the Silent – Warren Hovis, Minstrel – Jacob Chauvin, Wizard – Jenna Toups, Jester – Dominic Joseph, Lady Larkin – Ashley Toups, Sir Harry – Trey Lowry, Ladies in Waiting:  Jenevieve Bourgeois, Raynia Johnson, Diavian Ceaser, Peyton Dunshee,  Karlie Wombles, Jada Brown, Keri Clement, Sir Studley – Taye Drake, Sir Luce – Jerrett Ramagor, Knights: Cole James Persick, Mason Cassioppi, Clarence Smith,  Jaden House, Brad Wilson, Tank Nelson.

This will be the first time that “Once Upon A Mattress” will be performed on the St. John Theatre stage. “This is one of my favorite musicals, having performed in Once Upon A Mattress twice now, and I am thrilled to be directing,” stated director Mike Brooks. “This is a fun show and is full of fast-paced hilarious moments that are sure to have the audiences rolling in the aisles.”

“Once Upon A Mattress” will run July 23 – 25 and July 28 – 31 at the St. John Theatre in Reserve.  All shows are at 7:30 p.m. with the exception of the July 25 2:30 p.m. matinee.  Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and $10 for children ages 12 and under; they may be purchased at the door or in advance at Allied Express starting on July 2.  For more information, please visit the St. John Theatre website at www.stjohntheatre.com, or call Danielle Ordoyne at 225-439-4831.
