Parish President Hotard announces scholarship essay contest

St. John the Baptist Parish – Parish President Jaclyn Hotard announces scholarship essay contest for high school graduating seniors on overcoming the impacts of Covid-19.
The contest is open to the class of 2021 graduating seniors, who reside in St. John the Baptist Parish and attend high school within the Parish at the time of entry.
Seniors who wish to participate are asked to prepare an essay on, “How did you overcome the impacts of Covid-19 in your senior year of high school?”
“This essay contest gives graduating seniors an opportunity to develop and express their views on Covid-19,” said Parish President Hotard. “In addition to the opportunity for educational initiative and written expression, participants have a chance to win a financial award.”
One winner will be selected from each high school. Each winner will receive a $400 scholarship award and will be recognized by Parish President Hotard.
All awards will be payable directly to the student and cannot be extended to any other named person.
All essays should be submitted to essaycontest@stjohn-la.gov by midnight on May 1, 2021. Official contest rules can be found at http://sjbparish.com/pdfs/2021%20Scholarship%20Essay%20Contest.pdf.
