Sheriff confirms homicide in LaPlace; more details to follow

LAPLACE — There is heavy police presence in the Sugar Ridge subdivision in relation to a homicide, according to Sheriff Mike Tregre. The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office is responding to a situation in the area of Fairway Drive and North Sugar Ridge Drive in LaPlace.

There is no threat to the public at this time. However, the public is asked to use an alternate route to avoid the scene.
